Do you think Prez Bush needs to be arrested???
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Voters in two Vermont towns on Tuesday approved a measure that would instruct police to arrest President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney for "crimes against our Constitution," local media reported.
The nonbinding, symbolic measure, passed in Brattleboro and Marlboro in a state known for taking liberal positions on national issues, instructs town police to "extradite them to other authorities that may reasonably contend to prosecute them."
Vermont, home to maple syrup and picture-postcard views, is known for its liberal politics.
State lawmakers have passed nonbinding resolutions to end the war in Iraq and impeach Bush and Cheney, and several towns have also passed resolutions of impeachment. None of them have caught on in Washington.
I'm not sure but wouldn't doing such a thing make the people who did it subject to arrest for Treason. I am not an American but the very first article of the Canadian Criminal Code deals with it. Our prime minister is not our head of state. That job is still the Queen's. However your President is your head of state.
As an army officer there was an occasion I had to arrest police. They thought it was a joke until they heard the machine guns of my troops cocked when gave the commands "Take Aim" " Prepare to Fire " The then again thought it was funny when their superiors in the police showed up. They weren't laughing when taken away in handcuffs by their own bosses in handcuffs in the back of their own police car.
They had violated the National Defence Act by trying to search an army convoy. It was a weapons convoy. Criminal Offence, witnesses included other police. I don't know how long they had been police but they weren't anymore before the end of the day.
Doesn't your country have laws detailing exactly what measures must be taken to impeach a president. Agree with his policies or not those who gave that order to the police should be arrested by the very police they gave the order to. You do not obey an illegal order.
