Isle Detroit
Belle Isle Detroit Michigan?
I am going to Belle Isle in a couple of days and wanted to know if there is anything interesting to see that I should definitely not miss. Any information would be appreciated. Is there any point in taking my camera this time of year?
Other than the Conservatory what other buildings should I tour?
I have never been there nor talked with anyone that has so I don't know the first thing about Belle Isle.
There is the Scott fountain, that is right at the front of the island. However this time of year it is not operational, but during the warmer weather it makes a pretty nice picture. There is the lighthouse at the far north end, you have to park and walk to it but you can see it from the road. I believe that the injured animal shelter is still open it is just a little past the lighthouse on the left hand side of the road. The beach offers a pretty nice panorama of Detroit. The yacht club is by far the best building to see on Belle isle but I believe you have to be a member. Go ahead and check it out, but try and come back in the spring or summer it looks a lot nicer then.
