Sod House
Why is my sod/seed dying, but I have mushrooms in my grass?
I am living in a house that had a very neglected yard, and I put some sod and seed down to get a yard. I keep it watered, but the sod is yellow and the seed isn't growing but there are tons of mushrooms! What's going on?
Did you do any preparation before laying your grass? The base needs to be decompacted and broken to a fine tilth before laying.
Mushrooms could mean that spent mushroom compost was used during the turf (sod) growing process.
Depending on the type of grass you have, yellowing could be a fungal disease called melting out / leafspot.
Anything like this?

smooth stalk meadow grass can be susceptible dependant on variety. Kentucky bluegrass is a type of this.
In general, monocultures of any species are more susceptible to attacks by disease if a disease threat is present.
