The name Easter comes from a pagan figure called Eastre (or Eostre) which has been celebrated as the goddess of spring by the Saxons of Northern Europe. A festival called Eastre took place during the spring equinox by these persons in his honor. symbol of the earth goddess Eastre was rabbit, who was also known as a symbol of fertility. Originally there were very pagan (and sometimes quite bad practices) that went along with the celebration. Today, Easter is a holiday almost fully commercialized, with all the focus on Easter eggs and the Easter Bunny be remnants of goddess worship. Hope thats right!
