Can a 15 year old and 18 year old have sex in North Carolina or Georgia?
My boyfriend and I want to have sex.. no, we're not going to do it now, but we were just wondering if it's legal for an 18 year old male to have sex with a 15 yerar old female in North Carolina OR Georgia?
Insofar as the law in North Carolina goes, the age of consent is 16, but if one party is at least 13 and the other party is not "more than" 3 or 4 years older (depending on which source you believe), then it's not a crime. Now since he's 18 and you're 15, he could be "more than 3 years older than you", or he could be "less than 3 years older than you", depending on your birthdays.
The "3 years older" rule shown in Wikipedia may be a reference to NC statute 14‑202.2, which only applies if the older person is under age 16. Otherwise statute 14-27.7A would seem to apply, in which case, it's okay as long as he's less than 4 years older than you. But beware, your emails or IMs could still be illegal under 14-202.3 and certain photoraphs would be illegal under 14-190.17.
Nobody ever said that laws are reasonable!
