prospect park in Brooklyn?

My question me and my mother are going to vist prospect park in a week, whats the best subway stop to get out there from manhattan? But my real question is ARE THERE ANY STORES/RESTUARNTS RIGHT THERE? Or is it just a park, So Besides the park (same subway stop) what are good stores and resturants or strip malls, If it makes a difference I am going on a wednesday beofre xmass. also is there any nices streets to walk around there?

The west side of Prospect Park has a fun neighborhood called Park Slope. Seventh Ave. is the main commercial street, and you will find many interesting stores and restaurants there. Seventh Ave. runs roughly north-south and is only two blocks from the western edge of the park. To get there by subway, I'd recommend that you take the B train from Manhattan and get off at Seventh Ave. Alternatively, you may take the 2/3 line and get off at Grand Army Plaza, which is about 2 blocks further along Flatbush Ave. Prospect Park itself is good for biking and/or roller blading, but I have never found it that interesting. Please note, the east side and south edges of Prospect Park abut some pretty shady neighborhoods.
