What does privatizing Iraqi oil fields have to do with stopping the insurgency?
One of the top goals of the U.S. is to get the Iraqi govt. to pass a law privatizing 2/3 of the Iraqi oil fields, and allowing foreign (U.S.) corporations to get long term, tax-free leases. About 65% of Iraqis oppose this law.
