Do you think the Statue of Liberty is going to fall in the near future?
I read about the Statue of Liberty and the statue of course, in addition to be very brittle old. The copper plating on the statue no longer as thick as 2. You can also see the rust on the nails that were used hammered copper plating in place. Copper also attracts a lot of heat. Inside work began with workers using nitrogen liquid to remove seven layers of paint applied to the inside of the copper skin over the decades. That have two layers of tar origin applied to plug leaks and prevent corrosion. Baking soda blasting removed the tar without further damaging the copper. Besides replacing much of the iron and stainless steel internal structural reinforcement the statue itself, the restoration of the mid-1980s also included the replacement of the original torch with a replica, replacing the stairs iron home with a new staircase, installing a new elevator in the basement and the modernization of climate control systems. The Statue of Liberty reopened to the public July 5, 1986.
