School Church
How can my Sunday school students actively help to try to be good stewards in their church and community?
I am teaching a summer Sunday school at my church and the theme is stewardship. One of my goals is to teach them that even though they are young (5-12) there are ways that they can help to make their community a better place. I only have them for about one hour a week, but I want to leave them with a sense that they are just as important in the church/community as an adult is and that they can make a difference.
have them put together a donation run for families in need or kids that dont have a lot of toys
in my sunday school class, we have thankyou chains. the kids give other kids compliments about how much they are sharing or if they made someone smile. it makes everyone feel good and it makes them bond. it also makes them want to do more for other people.
also you might want to look into having the kids help out at dinners(imm not sure if you guys have the pot luck dinners after sunday school, we do at least); maybe they could help set things up (at my church the kids go around and make sure that there are candies on the tables and that the tables are set. ) this way, they feel a sense of belonging in the church and they also are using their stewardship skills
