Red Granite
Pyramid of Menkaure Granite?
I'm trying to do the original model of the Pyramid of Menkaure
I know the bottom portion is made of granite, but what kind?
Different websites says pink, another says rose, another says red, another just granite...
Can anyone help me research this?
The pyramid itself is of lime stones .
The outer casing is of rose granite from Aswan.
The job of covering the pyramid with the granite was never finished cause the King died before the job was completed and nobody cared to finish the work after the death of the King.
So at present you can see the pyramid half covered with rose granite stones and some stones are scattered around the pyramid. These scattered stones were supposed to cover the pyramid to the top.
Rose, pink or red granite come to the same thing cause they are all from the same source which is the granite quarries in Aswan. Some people call it rose, pink or red. In most books they are refered to as rose granite.
