Postcard Columbus
Recommendations please for places to visit in New England.?
We intend days 3 or 4 in New England in October. Where are the best places to see fall foliage, and all the other landscape picture postcard - picturesque churches, covered bridges, etc. It's our anniversary and would be somewhere romantic. Short of sticking a pin in a map, I'm not sure where to start. More will be Columbus weekend per day - is it likely to be busy, or do we risk failing to book a hotel in advance? Thank you for any help.
Most places in Vermont and New Hampshire are booked a year in advance for the weekend foliage season, especially the weekend of Columbus Day. The rocket rate, too. Do not risk not having reservations. The famous players are bumper to bumper with leaf peepers (as they are called). Do not even go near the motorway Kangamangus this weekend. That said, there is plenty of room for everyone, but not all in one place. Grafton, Vermont is nice. historic houses cute green, picturesque church.
