How to take a cat from North America to South America HELP?
We will be moving from Canada to Ecuador this coming September. We're trying to find a way to take our beloved cat with us but we seem to be running into a lot of roadblocks that are making it impossible to take the cat with us. Does anyone have any ideas or information about transporting an animal to South America from North America? PLEASE help!
According to the web site below, cats must be vaccinated within sixty days before departure, against feline panleukopenia and rabies. This link explains exactly which documents are required for your cat to enter Ecuador.

I don't know whereabouts in Canada you are, but this link has contact details for the Ecuador Embassy and Consulates, who will be able to confirm exactly what the current requirements are.

Pet transportation regulations vary. Some airlines will allow them to travel in the cabin, whilst other only transport pets as cargo in the hold. This link has contact details for all the airlines, so that you can check that information. All airlines insist that pets are treated for parasites and ticks 24-48 hours prior to travelling and you may need to provide confirmation from your vet that this has been done.
