Collectors of postcards? date ranges of color.?
I found a large box of old postcards and as I am looking through them im out a trend color style diff and I'm wondering if a certain color style from a certain date range. For example theres those black and white when you turn it sidewide kind of marker is similar to light. Then theres too saturated landscape photos prev. Theres pale color postcards, etc.. Does anyone know anything about postcards and what to watch out for?
probably postcards you describe are from the 20s or 30s. This is called dyeing. Usually, they added color after printing the image. Since color printing is not available, they added color in a separate process. You mention pale colored postcards. Is it in black and white? They could be what is called real photo postcards. The image tends to fade with age, these are real photos. You can tell if it's a true picture if she says "postcard" in what looks like a rubber stamp on the back.
