Anyone taken the Iowa test or done the prep work before?
My daughter who is finishing 3rd grade this year is to take the Iowa test at the end of the month. In preparation, I found a website that administers practice tests.... www.brighteducation.com. She has been working on the tests and I have found them to be incredibly difficult, with questions that most adults wouldn't know the answer to, let alone 3rd graders. Would anyone know if this is what i can expect, is the practice test harder than the real test, and are the results accurate? I just can't believe that my child who has always done very well and is definitely the most well read, intelligent child we know is scoring below average. Any suggestions?

I don't have any experience with those particular practice tests, but I wouldn't worry to much about it. My child has taken the ITBS test the past few years and while I wouldn't consider it hard sometimes the questions can be somewhat ambiguous. These types of tests can sometimes be harder for more intelligent kids since they sometimes see all the various possibilities rather than just the simple answer the test designers were looking for.
Although my daughter seemed to have some difficulties with the small amount of test prep material she tried, she still scored extremely well on the actual ITBS, so I wouldn't worry to much!
