Credit Card Bill?
I filed a police report due to the fact that my ex-boyfriend charged my American Express card 13,000 in one month. He also let a women charged a rental car on the card. The Sanford Florida Police Department told me that they could not charge him or the women due to the fact that I gave him permission to use the card. But I only agreed to him charging $1,000. American Express told me to file the police report. But then the police department in Sanford, Fl told me to file chargers in Texas since that's where the charges were made. Can someone please tell me what can I do to get them charge? And I did asked the question if I had something in writting and he told me no the women name is on the paper as being the person to rent the car.
The issue really is whether or not your ex-boyfriend was an authorized user of the account. That is the only way he can legally charge the card. You are saying that he could only charge $1,000, but that can only be a verbal agreement, because if he is authorized, he can legally charge whatever he wants. If he was not authorized to use the credit card, then you can sue him for fraud.
In case he simply ran up the card, being an authorized user, it gets complicated. You are the primary account holder and are responsible for all charges, whether you made them or your ex-boyfriend did and, on top of that, there is no fraud involved. You will have to sort it out with your ex and will need an attorney.
