how can one develop a sleepy town like black river in jamaica?
black river is situated on the south coast of jamaica. fishing is the way of life for most of the people.the younger generation move out of the are leaving mostly middle aged and elderly. workers come in and return to their respective adjoining district in the night

Black river is a very special place along the south coast having a long history,the way i see it, if there is going to be development it must be a sustainable one that works in conjunction with the environment.
Like developing it as a fisheries vacinity/ as a hub by utilizing the abundant water flow in the Black river,strengthen laws that will hold people accountable for any damages.
Use tourism to buy product such as agricultural from the parish of St Elizabeth,which will create jobs so that more people will have stronger spending power to pay taxes and in return Gov, will have more cash for implementing {programs} like Hosp, schools,Universities and other infrastructures.
reinvest in new technologies so as to bolster production,and also be friendly to small business by making funds cheaper and less of a hassle,put the priorities of importing vital machinary first like items that will cut wast and encourage strong out put financially and and in productivity.
Develope niche markets by rapid and aggressive marketing of the areas natural aspects and oppertunities of doing business there,so as to have a strong reliable source of export market.
But all this can't be met if the Government of the day continues only seek power for them selves and not think out side of the box,we need competition to lighten things.
We need a government that will encourage good business sense and also protect the environment.
Black river for example is the largest swamp marsh area in the caribbean,which supports a large ecosystem of about 14,000 hecters.
so this is one reason why any developer should take everything into consideration.
