Architecture Town
During the festival local renaissance here in town, people were referring to the Gothic as if it were a period of time.
I think is a form of Gothic architecture.
The long history of strange words gothic / goth: Back all the way to the Roman era, the Visigoths and Ostrogoths are two Germanic tribes who fought with the Roman Empire in Europe territory. The tribes were goth damned by the Romans as barbarians. Skip to the Renaissance, where the cultural elite believed that medieval Archictecture was barbaric. They called this form of Gothic architecture, and the term stuck. Then in the early 1800s, a very melodramatic prose style entitled "horrible novels" became popular. The prose generally involved virtuous ladies being abducted by a wicked, wicked still born to be eventually rescued by the hero spirited, or perhaps this virtuous lady could be in a castle haunted by evil spirits and strangeness Generally, again to be rescued. These novels have often been ruined medieval castles and churches that have been barely more than a few Gothic arches leading into the dungeons inevitable. This led to the term "gothic novel" or "Gothic novel" and the term Gothic acquired his sense of things dark, dangerous and convoluted occult. Horrid novels led to both the modern genres of horror and gothic romance, and Gothic novels were popular in the 70s. Finally, the tone and mood of "Gothic" were captured by the Goths in progress - taking often like a horror, even including the Gothic arches of medieval churches that writers of the Renaissance were so low.
